Podcast Alert: Trade a Day in My Shoes – a Conversation with Both Sides

It’s easy to criticize, blame, scold, scoff when you have an “other side” to direct your negative energy toward. Taking responsibility, no matter what the action, is a breeze when something’s been done right, but when something goes wrong, we always want to point a finger.

Isn’t that so for our equity trading industry. Your trade didn’t execute how you wanted it to? It’s the sell side’s fault, obviously. Your trader flubbed a trade while trying to use your software? It’s the buy side’s fault, obviously. Instead, how about we try to understand what it’s like to trade on the other side of the coin? Here, we bring you an interview with Ron Lysek, Head of Trading, Franklin Mutual Advisers and Bill Libby, VP, Equities Electronic Trading, Barclays Capital, where they discuss what they need from each other to make their jobs easier.

Perhaps it’s a bit “Kumbayah,” a bit influenced by the State of the Union’s preaching of bipartisanship, but we’re all in this together so let’s try to work together…for the betterment of us all.
